From February 5th onwards, TERA will adopt a free-to-play model. According to En Masse Entertainment, publisher of TERA, the MMORPG will walk the “freemium” route. That is, you can still pay for in-game items, but that is completely optional. Just in case you’re a TERA player, let us see what is in store. Console - free character slot Console For those who missed the (now-suspended) login event and didn't get the free character slot, according to Enmasse Twitter, they will send you a free character slot if you log in before February 1 at 3:00 a.m. A new free playable class is now available for TERA on Xbox One and PlayStation®4: the stealthy, deadly ninja. The ninja is a brilliant strategist that relies on hit-and-run tactics paired with misdirection to confuse and eliminate her enemies.
Seattle, WA – June 26, 2018 – En Masse Entertainment announced today that the gunner, a new playable class is now available for TERA on Xbox One and PlayStation®4 as a free update. The gunner is a high damage class who wields a massive arcannon to mow down mobs of enemies.
The team at En Masse is celebrating the launch of the gunner with some special events and challenges:
- Starting today and going through July 8, players will receive one free additional Character Slot upon their first-time log in to TERAwhich they can use to create a gunner (or any of TERA‘s eleven character classes).
- Through July 22, gunners unlock special rewards as they level-up. If players manage to get all the way to level 65, they’ll unlock an exclusive costume and weapon skin for their gunner!
- The first gunner to reach level 65 on each server will also earn a special achievement and “Cutting Edge” title.
The gunner is the first new class to come to TERA on consoles and is available to the female castanic and high-elf races at character creation. At first glance, the massive guns make this class seem limited to long-range combat; however, the gunner is surprisingly versatile, making her an excellent choice for utility players who want to be effective in a variety of situations. Tough, deadly, and crafty, the gunner comes fully loaded with abilities that help her stand apart on the battlefield.
- Battlefield-Clearing Attacks: Powerful area-of-effect attacks, including the visually-stunning Balder’s Vengeance, let the gunner mow down hordes of enemies without breaking a sweat.
- Big-Ass Guns: This class is defined by the arcannon—a huge weapon with huge damage potential. Why settle on small when you can go big?
- Summoned Constructs: With her ability to place turrets and constructs around the battlefield, the gunner never has to fight alone. It’s like having a party with you wherever you go!
- Heavy Armor: With huge guns and heavy armor, the gunner is a tank. Fight with ranged attacks or hit hard from up close. The ability to mix up attacks keeps enemies guessing until they’re blown away.
The gunner is now available for TERA console players and is 100% free. For more details on the new class please visit tera.enmasse.com, and follow the game on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

If you are a current subscriber, any remaining game time you might have will be converted to elite game time. That time will be rounded up to the nearest 30-day mark. For example, if you have 24 days of game time remaining, you will be granted 6 extra days of game time to bring up your total amount of game time to 30 days. Of course, once your game time runs out, your recurring subscription will automatically revert to a recurring elite subscription for $14.99. However, you can choose to cancel any time, and if you do so, your account will convert into a founder account when your game time ends.
Currently, you cannot get a refund for your subscription due to that feature not being restored yet. However, you can submit a ticket to request a refund for your remaining game time. After the current month ends, your remaining subscription will be refunded. For example, if you bought a 90-day subscription and have 65 days remaining, you will receive a refund for 60 days of game time. As for the remaining five days, they will stay as elite game time.

The same dilemma, unfortunately, applies for acquisition of EMP instead of a refund for any elite time. Of course, when the feature is restored, you can receive EMP instead of a refund by submitting a ticket after TERA drops its subscription fee. The remaining time will be converted into a dollar amount and En Masse Entertainment will grant you the appropriate amount of EMP depending on the dollar amount. If you are confused as to what exactly is founder status, it lets you retain all the perks that were in-game without the subscription. There is only one way to obtain founder status, and that is to redeem your copy of TERA. Regardless of whether you currently play TERA, your account will be permanently be granted founder status if you redeem your copy of the game. This is the only way to acquire founder status, so don’t forget!
However, if you upgrade from a founder account to Elite, you will retain all the benefits for the founder account. Keep in mind, though, that if you elect to let your elite game time run out and cancel your subscription, you will automatically revert to founder status. Related to founder status, if you buy a box copy of TERA, you can still receive permanent founder status. Even after February 5th, you can do this any time you wish. However, if you apply any game account after February 3rd, it will not be granted 30 days of elite status or any bonus EMP for the purchase.
